back to reality

Yeah, so the past to weeks have been a reality check. After almost 2 weeks away from the regular "grind" we've been forced to embrace the status quo and go back to work, pay bills, you know the deal.... Unfortunately since returning from our holiday sabbatical we've had to deal with some "ickies"..... Ya see, when you send your kids to the daycare, they seem to get every cold, flu or bug that science has discovered. Over the past month we've dealt with stomach flu (Mommy & Daddy shared in this one!) and a lingering cough. The past week Maggie & I had to take off in order to watch the baby cuz we wanted to let him recover away from the "ickies" at "school". It was getting out of control, Sunday - Wednesday I think we all only got about 5 hours of the sleep total! So we went to thet doctor twice this week. Monday "they" gave us anti-biotics.... did nothin... Then we went back & got a baby inhaler. Not the easiest device to administer to a fiesty 7 month old! But now Master P's officialy "on the mend" and getting back to normal. Just in time for me to leave for a trade show in Chicago! Say a prayer that there are no "events" while I'm away!

Last weekend St. Chenoah watched our little guy over night (the cough hadn't manifested into the full stregth evil pestilence yet) and Maggie & I had the chance to have some alone time! Of course we headed to A.C. for the "free" room deal... Still, it's a good deal if you can keep control of your gambling. Since we have no money, we have no choice but to keep control. Ya can't spend what ya ain't got! So with losses in the casino, a regular hotel room on a Saturday night would 've been more! We just wanted the opporchancity to get away & enjoy each other without getting pee'd on!

Yeah, so I'm headed back to the city of thick pizzas. I'll be staying at Evanstons top hotel, Gigi & Papa Ken's Poplar Arms Hotel... Some people enjoy penthouses, but I prefer the basement accomodations at "The Poplar". I'm going to this show on a mission to find some new stuff for us to sell at work & for a training on a new line that is located in Chicago. It should be a good experience.

I have some more new xmas pics, but with limited time I haven't been able to get them available for posting. Hopefully I'll get them up before the Easter Bunny is around!!!

Well, here are some pictures from xmas, as promised!

So since I've last blogged what has happened...

The baby got sick, Maggie got sick, I got sick (i mean siiiiiiick).... I won't go into details, but Maggie & I both had a rough Thursday night.... Friday was no treat either!!! The weather guy forecasted the storm of the century for Saturday, we only got 3 inches... Artie Lange went to rehab.... We tried steel cut oats (dry oatmeal)........ Gas went up $.20 a gallon......... Maggie & I had alone time, we went bowling!..... Artie Lange checked himself outta rehab........ We went to Lawnguyland to see my peeps (I knocked over the dog bowl.... of course)... Maggie won an iron at the "queen of steam" ironing demo..... I made chili for the week..... We went to my Moms for dinner, she served chili...... I lost 4 pounds & a whole cup size! We had a family trip to Shoprite... I shoveled & sawlted the driveway... Then I proclaimed it the best driveway in Kenvil!!!!!!!

Now we're just trying to get through another week of cold... They (you know who) said it was gonna be like 17 in the city as a high at the end of the week. So you can bet your bottom dollar (top one to) that it'll be single digits out here in the wasteland... I know to yous in Illinois single digits is like beach weather.... but it's big news here!

Friday I have to take my stress test.... I'm nervous about it. See usually I have it in October. Before the holidays & right after the summer when I'm in the best shape.... Now I'll be taking it in my post holiday, Farley-esque, blubbery winter state..... I hope I pass the test! I gave up the booze & pizza in an attempt to get back into my pants! It's tough but I think it's paying off!!! Only 36 more pounds till I hit my goal!!! Wish me luck!

Well, I made a "Ginger Boy" at G & M's new casa during their holiday party. I decided to make a ginger Phinneus! It was fun. Do yous think it looks like him? I do!

Who's Tyty?? I am.... todays our first real day back at work in a long time.......

Are you kiddin' me!!!!!

So I come home from picking up the baby from "school" and hittin' the local Shoprite (yeah Oswalds!) to our favorite blue haired, butter abusing southern fried cooking show host, Paula Deen on the TV. I fix myself a bowl of leftover macaroni (what we called pasta in the 80's) and sat down to enjoyed the absurdity of Paula in action. She was making burgers.... Paula Style.... These weren't your regular 'ol beef patties.. These suckers are tongue numbingly seasoned with every spice in the cabinet, pan fried, topped with a couple fried eggs (in butter.... of course), a liberal amount of bacon and cheese. Now to some of yous that probly sounds like great combo..... but the apex of ubsurdity is that she forgoes the use of hambuger buns & instead opts for using 2 glazed donuts.... I can't understand how I have stents & people like Paula can eat this type of sh*t & don't!!!!!!

Today was the begining of the John & Maggie's, or Maggie & John's (however yous wanna cawl us) re-renouncing of all bad foods.... I guess the worst thing I ate was the leftover pasta (macaroni in the 80's).... Lotsa salad & egg whites.... gone are the fries, pizza & beer... In are the salads, veggies & waters.....

In preparation for policing our eating habits we went out to our favorite Franch restaurant in "the city" (that's right "The City".... There's only one!) with Amy, Andrew, Andrews parents & their friend Phyllis. I decided to get my bad food on for the last time.... Phinneus was very well behaved the whole time. Thanks Paul for picking up the tab! We went back to A & A's apartment for some hot chocolate & cookies.. A nice way to end the holiday eating binge! Then it was back across the river to Jersey....

Tomorrow we are traveling to Lawng Island for the last round of Holiday Cheer.... Hopefully the traffic is kind to us! I'll letcha know!
